The dry suit is the reason why diving in Germany doesn't have to be a summer sport. With it, you can dive in February when the water is four degrees and get out of the water dry—not warm, but dry, and that's the key difference.
A dry suit, however, isn't just a thicker wetsuit—it's a second buoyancy aid that you control in addition to your jacket. You can't learn that just by trial and error.
The wetsuit is included in the course price. You don't have to buy anything or rent anything extra to find out if dry-suit diving is right for you.
What to expect
PADI e-Learning in Advance
Types of wetsuits, valves, undersuits, weight calculation, and buoyancy control using two air volumes. Two to three hours; permanent access.
Adjustments and Dry Runs at the Center
We'll find you a wetsuit in your size, check the cuffs, choose the undergarments, and show you how to get in and out. After that, you'll practice using the valves on land until you've got the hang of it.
Two open-water dives
Descend in a controlled manner, inflate your wetsuit and deflate it in time, float with your jacket and wetsuit—and most importantly: master leg buoyancy and right yourself from a head-first position.
Certification
After your second dive, you'll be a PADI Dry Suit Diver. From then on, you can rent dry suits anywhere in the world—and join us for the winter season.

Just got your diving certification? From November through April, you can book the Dry Suit Specialty as an add-on to your Open Water Diver course —for €149 instead of €279, suit included.
Requirements
PADI Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent certification. We accept certifications from other organizations.
Minimum age: 10 years.
There is no minimum number of dives required. Right after completing the basic course is often the best time to start.
PADI Diving Medical Questionnaire Before the course begins — standard for every diving course.
A medical certificate of fitness for diving if we’re diving at Hunsfels. The lake requires this from every diver, without exception; at Kronau, it’s not necessary. Any doctor can issue it, including your family doctor. To be on the safe side, get it in advance.
A drysuit is tight around the neck and wrists. If you have trouble with that, you'll notice it when you try it on at the store—not once you're in the water.
Learn dry suit diving in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region
We hold our theory sessions and equipment training in Frankfurt-Schwanheim, at Vogesenstraße 12C. Customer parking is available behind the building (entrance at Am Kirchholz 12); to get here, take the A5 and then Schwanheimer Bahnstraße. It takes 15 to 20 minutes from Sachsenhausen, Niederrad, and Höchst, and a good half hour from Offenbach, Rüsselsheim, Hanau, and Bad Homburg.
Diving takes place in the region's lakes. In winter, the water is often much clearer than in summer because there is no algal bloom—those who go dry diving will enjoy the best visibility of the year.
Why the Frankfurt Dive Center
The wetsuit is included. No extra charge, no daily rental fee. The drysuit, undersuit, tank, and refills are all included in the €279.
Try it on in the store, not at the lake. Take your time trying it on until the size and cuffs fit right.
Dry Suit Expertise. We carry dry suits from several brands and will advise you after the course, with no time pressure.
We dive even in winter. Through the FDC Club , there are dives scheduled all year round.
Good next steps include the ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVERand the PERFECT BUIELT-IN BALANCE , and the NIGHT DIVING COURSE, which is easier to plan in the winter anyway.
It counts as one of the five specialties required to become a Master Scuba Diver—the five specialties plus certification cost €999 as a bundle.
