Are you a Rescue Diver who wants to do more than just dive well yourself? As a PADI Divemaster, you’ll lead certified divers, assist instructors with training, and take responsibility for others in the water. This is where diving goes from a hobby to a career.
This isn't just a more challenging continuation of recreational diver training—it's a change in role: From this point on, it's about what you can do for others—even when you're tired, the water is cold, and someone in your group is having trouble. That's why, with us, the Divemaster course is a training program that lasts several months, not just a weekend.
Divemaster ≠ Diving Instructor
The Divemaster is the first professional level at PADI — you’re allowed to lead certified divers, assist instructors during courses, and organize dives. However, you are not authorized to teach dive courses on your own — that’s what the PADI Instructor Training Program is for.

Requirements
PADI Rescue Diver or a recognized equivalent certification
First aid and CPR training completed within the last 24 months, e.g., PADI Emergency First Response
Minimum age: 18
At least 40 logged dives to start, 60 by the end
Medical certificate of fitness for diving issued within the last 12 months
The Training — Three Parts
Knowledge — Diving physics and physiology, decompression theory, equipment, the PADI training system, and the basics of dive supervision. PADI e-Learning is included in the price; we’ll go over the material in more depth together at the center.
Water Safety and Skills — Swimming and endurance exercises (swimming a distance, floating, snorkeling a distance, towing an exhausted diver), changing equipment underwater, and all basic skills demonstrated at a high level: slowly, neatly, and in a way that a beginner can understand.
Practical Application — You’ll map a dive site, work through real-life scenarios, and assist with ongoing courses in the pool and in open water. This is the most time-consuming part—and the one from which you’ll learn the most.
Diving experience — 60 dives
To get started, you need 40 logged dives; to get certified, you need 60. You’ll complete the remaining dives during your training—through the FDC Club , you’ll rack them up faster than you think.

Did you complete your Rescue Diver course with SSI, CMAS, or another organization? We'll accept equivalent certifications. Bring your card and logbook with you, and we'll assess your level during a one-on-one consultation.
